What Sets Kria Apart
At Kria we believe in harnessing the power of ancient wellness practices and blending them with modern science to create lasting health benefits and we are soon bringing these practices to Seattle!
Each of our key offerings supports a different aspect of well-being, from physical performance to mental clarity and long-term vitality. Explore the unique benefits of sauna therapy and how it can enhance your strength, longevity, stress management, brain health, and heart function—all designed to work in synergy for a comprehensive wellness experience.
Consistent sauna use has been linked to both extended healthspan—the period of life spent in good health—and overall life expectancy, particularly in studies from Nordic countries. Healthspan is important because it reflects not just how long you live, but how long you maintain vitality and quality of life. Sauna bathing enhances vascular function, improves blood pressure, and boosts cardiovascular health, which in turn helps reduce the risk of various chronic diseases.
In addition to these benefits, some studies suggest that sauna use positively affects the immune system by promoting healthy cellular apoptosis—the natural process by which the body eliminates damaged or malfunctioning cells. Efficient apoptosis is crucial for preventing the buildup of dysfunctional cells that can contribute to diseases like cancer. Regular sauna sessions, therefore, contribute to longevity by supporting both cardiovascular health and cellular efficiency, helping you live a longer, healthier, and more active life.

Sauna bathing increases your heart rate, core temperature, and circulation, closely mimicking the physiological benefits of exercise. Research shows that sauna use not only improves cardiovascular performance, reduces resting heart rate, and enhances blood pressure, but also promotes muscle recovery. Additionally, it amplifies the effects of weight training, boosting muscle growth and strength gains by up to 20%-25%, depending on workout and sauna usage protocols. When combined with cryotherapy, this hot-cold contrast further enhances muscle recovery and boosts energy levels.
Sauna sessions have also been shown to increase VO2 max, a key marker of cardiovascular fitness, even without additional exercise. When combined with Zone 2 training or other forms of cardio exercise, the improvements to VO2 max become even more pronounced. By incorporating sauna therapy into your routine, you can maximize the benefits of both strength and endurance training, leading to enhanced overall fitness and recovery.

Saunas trigger the production of dynorphin, a compound that binds to kappa opioid receptors, creating a natural feeling of dysphoria. This dysphoria sets off a feedback loop that sensitizes the mu opioid receptors to natural endorphins, which are responsible for feelings of euphoria. This process helps balance the body's stress and reward systems, promoting relaxation, happiness, and emotional stability.
Over time, this effect can lead to long-lasting reductions in anxiety and stress. Studies have shown that regular sauna use can even provide relief for treatment-resistant depression, enhancing mental well-being and stress resilience. By incorporating sauna sessions into your routine, you can experience sustained improvements in mood and emotional health.

Sauna bathing stimulates the production of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which play a critical role in protecting the brain by preventing the aggregation of harmful malformed proteins linked to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s. By maintaining protein stability and enhancing cellular repair mechanisms, HSPs help safeguard cognitive health.
In addition to these protective effects, sauna use helps reduce inflammation—a key factor in the progression of neurodegenerative conditions. Regular sauna sessions promote long-term brain health, lowering the risk of cognitive decline and supporting mental clarity as you age.

Regular sauna sessions have been shown to significantly improve cardiovascular health by reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which helps decrease the strain on the heart. Sauna use strengthens heart function, improves circulation (especially when combined with cryotherapy), and helps reduce the risk of heart-related conditions such as coronary artery disease and sudden cardiac events.
Additionally, sauna therapy enhances vascular function, supporting healthy arteries by reducing plaque buildup. This process is aided by the activation of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which help prevent the aggregation of harmful proteins that contribute to atherosclerosis, a leading cause of heart disease. Combined with reduced inflammation, these effects actively promote long-term cardiovascular wellness and overall well-being
